Want to know some of the standout things to do in Palma de Mallorca? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. La Seu Catedral
This massive Gothic cathedral was begun in 1300 and finished in 1601. Its southern face boasts one of the most stunning views overlooking a reflecting pool and the ocean. The cathedral is surrounded by beautiful gardens, making La Seu the perfect balance of stunning architecture and natural beauty.
2. Día de Sant Joan
A summer festival filled with dancing, singing and drinking held at Parc de la Mar. This entertaining event is preceded the night before by a stunning fireworks display.
3. Go to the Beaches
Between Palma and Arsenal there is a long stretch of coastline with a good amount of little bars, cafés and restaurants. An evening stroll is particularly recommended – the sun setting over the ocean is an amazing sight.
4. Eat, eat, eat!
Many of Palma's most popular cafes, restaurants and tapas bars are located around the city center, especially in the side streets of the Passeig des Born and the Avinguda d'Antoni Maura. However, to try typical Mallorcan dishes in an authentic atmosphere, visit Génova (just outside the center) which has countless popular places to choose from.
5. Visit the Local Markets
Nearly all towns on the island have weekly markets where animals, Mallorcan food, and pieces of art can be found. One of the most popular is held on Sundays from 8am to 2pm in Santa Maria (15 km from Palma).
