Getting Around Barcelona: Transport Tips and Advice

Transport in Barcelona

Barcelona's airport is about 20 minutes from the heart of the city and is served by a rail line that ends at the airport. Tickets are not expensive and trains leave about every half an hour from 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.

Barcelona has also recently become well connected by the neighboring airports of Reus and Girona and you may well find yourself arriving here if using one of the cheap or budget airlines. Trains run to Barcelona from both city centers, with buses then heading directly to the airports.

Generally speaking, getting around Barcelona is quick and cheap. You can buy two different types of passes that will allow you to move from place to place without the hassle of waiting in line. The T-dia pass entitles you to unlimited bus and metro travel for up to five days. Alternatively, you can pick up the T-1 Pass which is valid for 10 rides on the metro, bus, Nitbus and urban lines of the FGC commuter trains.
