Things to Do in Scotland

Sitting handsomely atop Castle Rock, a castle has looked out over the city of Edinburgh for the last thousand years. Open to the public, it houses a vast collection of important national and military artifacts.

Scotland’s most visited tourist site, the red brick, Baroque Kelingrove building houses a huge national history museum. The art gallery is equally as large and includes the famous Dali painting Christ of St John on the Cross.

Located in the expansive moorland of Western Scotland, Ben Nevis is the highest peak in the UK. Serious climbers seek to scale its steep faces, while ramblers and hikers take the Pony Track up to the top where a ruined observatory awaits.

On the bewitching island of Iona, this ancient monastery dates back to the 6th century. The Abbey features some important celtic crosses, and a burial ground where 48 Scottish medieval kings are buried.

Erected in 1869, this Victorian Tower commemorates one of Scotland’s most famous historical figures. Today it sits alongside a Hall of Heroes, where marble sculptures similarly immortalize other national heroes.
