Things to Do in Lagos
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Lagos? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Bask on a Beach
Considering that the beaches of Lagos are some of the best in Europe, there’s more than enough choice! Clean, rarely (if ever) overcrowded and warmed by a consistent sunshine, the only problem is dragging yourself away!
2. Watch the Sun Set from a Cliff Top
Lagos is a place of simple pleasures. Good food, lazy days on the beach… and truly stunning sunsets. One of the best places to catch one of these vivid works of art is to the south of the town along the cliffs that back the Dona Ana beach.
3. Have a Picnic in Sagres Fort
The little village of Sagres (about half an hour from Lagos) makes an excellent day trip. Down towards Cape St. Vincent, it’s one of the furthest south-western points of Europe. But it’s the enormous fort – gazing out at the Atlantic, a fabulous place for a picnic – that really makes the area stand out.
4. Stuff yourself with Seafood
Seafood in Lagos is, naturally, absolutely exceptional and Lagos restaurants are rarely particularly expensive. Swordfish steaks come particularly recommended.
5. Get out to the Grottos
Down on the beaches there are a number of boatmen eager to ferry you out to the grottos that line the coast. The boat trip out there can be a lot of fun, with great views of the cliffs and rock formations, and some of the grottos are spectacular.
