Want to know some of the standout things to do in Warsaw? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Go Wild in Warsaw
The club scene of Warsaw’s Srodmiescie (Old Town) is absolutely jumping. Alternatively, down to the south of the city center, particularly, there are countless bars in which you can quietly embalm yourself in Polish vodka!
2. Clamber up the Palace of Culture and Science
This wonderfully Orwellian-sounding monument to Stalinism juts out gloomily from the center of Warsaw. The tallest skyscraper in Poland, the views from the top are spectacular.
3. Ponder the Jewish Cemetery
As was the case in Krakow, Warsaw’s Jewish population was all but wiped out by the Nazis. Now, the city’s sprawling cemetery is a beautiful and poignant reminder.
4. Explore the Kampinos Forest National Park
Poland’s forests are truly remarkable, and one such, the Kampinos Forest, is just a short bus ride from Warsaw. Stretching over 240 square kilometers of the Vistula Valley, just make sure you don’t get lost!
5. Fight off the Cold with a Good, Hearty Meal
Polish food is invariably on the filling side, and Warsaw’s no exception. While the old Soviet Milk Bars grow ever rarer, there are still plenty of cheap places where you can try out a few delicious Polish specialties like pierogi (dumplings), bigos (stew) and krupnik (soup). Perfect for a cold winter’s night!
