Warsaw Nightlife: Places and Districts to Go Out in Warsaw

Sparkling Warsaw Skyscrapers

Home to a good mix of pubs, bars and clubs, nightlife in Warsaw is both enthusiastic and varied. The city has seen a huge influx of travelers over recent years, with many heading here specifically to sample the increasingly renowned scene.

One of the best ways to start the evening is with a stroll through the streets of the Old Town. Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmiescie are particularly atmospheric in the early evening, and are surrounded by cafés and bars to have a quiet drink in.

In the summer, most of the larger bars (particularly in the main squares) put out tables so that drinkers can spill onto the street. There’s a good selection of places to choose from clustered together on Foksal Street and on nearby Poznanska and Sienkeiwicza.

A number of plush, trendy bars have also sprung up across the city center lately. There are a few places in and around Trzech Krzyzy Square where the well-heeled young professionals drink and vie for each other’s attention.

Rather more interestingly is Praga;  a rundown part of town for many years, it has reinvented itself as a thriving alternative hub of Warsaw nightlife. With a rootsy, slightly edgy feel to proceedings, the scene here on the other side of the river is very much on the up.

The city is home to a number of live music haunts and there's often something going on most nights of the week, with jazz shows especially popular. Many venues are small and atmospheric, with the music tending towards the experimental side.

In Warsaw, as with much of the rest of Central and Eastern Europe, residents are really starting to enjoy themselves and their newfound economic and political freedom. And for backpackers on a night out in the city, this sense of liberation can be pretty contagious.
