Things to Do in Poland

Want to know some of the standout things to do in Poland? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...

1. Wawel Castle, Krakow

Wawel Castle was the supreme seat of power in Poland for five centuries. Today, it exists mainly as a historical artifact pointing to past times, with a number of state rooms and museums open for exploration.

2. Malbork

The town of Malbork in northern Poland is home to the largest brick built fortress in the world. The site is actually three castles and the ruins of a once-functional cathedral that have all merged into one.

3. The Old Jewish Ghetto, Warsaw

The Old Jewish District in Warsaw was all but emptied of its inhabitants by the Nazis during the Second World War. The Nozyk Synagogue is the only synagogue in the area to have survived the war, and is now as beautiful and solemn as the area that surrounds it.

4. Raclawice Panorama, Wroclaw

This massive panoramic painting is considered one of the first products of mass culture infringing upon the art world. Depicting the Battle of Raclawice, it spans 120 meters and was the brainchild of Jan Styka (and his large team of artists).

5. The Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw

The tallest building in Poland, the Palace of Culture and Science was Stalin’s controversial gift to the Polish people (coming, as it did, at the price of freedom). It includes a theater, concert hall, cinema and viewing gallery that looks out across the city.
