Things to Do in Lima

With a monastery, an art gallery, an ancient library and catacombs housing thousands of skulls and bones, the Iglesia de San Francisco offers a great opportunity to get at Lima’s complex past.

Barranco is Lima’s young, trendy neighborhood. By day, you can stroll around the cobbled streets and chill in the pleasant parks; by night, you can drink in the artsy bars and watch performances in the Plazas.

The local delicacy. Freshly caught raw fish marinated in a citrus sauce and served with onions, corn-on-the-cob and sweet potatoes. Best eaten in the city’s many ‘cevicherias’, where the fish is cheap and tasty.

Clouds of pungent incense, passionate chanting, a prodigious statue of the Lord carried through the streets – what more could you want from a Latin festival in the middle of October?

If the hustle of the city gets to you, just fly above it! Throughout the day, scores of paragliders can be seen enjoying the city from above. If you fancy giving it a go, tandem flights over the Miraflores area are available for the first timer.
