Things to Do in Norway

With fantastic views towards the Skagerrak, Verdens Ende ('World's End') is on the far south of the island of Tjome. Renowned for its excellent bathing and fishing opportunities, the harbor basin acquired its distinctive name from travelers at the beginning of the 20th century.

Set in beautiful surroundings at the tip of Randsfjord, this is the country's oldest operating business. Visitors can watch the glassblowers at work and even have a go themselves.

Dedicated to a Norwegian artist with a very morbid sense of humour, the proximity of sex and death is the recurring theme of this museum which, rather fittingly, is also a mausoleum. The main attraction is a dark room completely covered with fresco paintings dedicated to the mysteries of procreation...

The point at which this fjord – the second-longest in the world – meets the glaciers and Norway's highest mountains is considered to be one of the most beautiful natural sights in Europe.

Taking 20 years to construct, this is the steepest railway line of its type in the world and, with its twisting tunnels, a magnificent engineering feat. Along the way, you will see snow-clad peaks, deep gorges, cascading waterfalls and mountain farms precariously clinging to the slopes.
