Getting Around Christchurch: Transport Tips and Advice

The Christchurch Tramway

If you’re traveling from the airport to the center of Christchurch, taxis can be ruinously expensive! The Airport Flyer and number 10 Harewood–Cashmere bus both operate services to the city for a fraction of a taxi fare.Alternatively, door-to-door shuttle buses offer a service somewhere between the two.

Christchurch has two main bus services: the free, environmentally-friendly Christchurch Shuttle that goes around the city center, and the Red Bus ltd. Although the latter is obviously more expensive, it heads further afield and offers a combination of single tickets and all-day passes.

For a slightly more unusual way of getting around the inner city, the Christchurch Tramway offers a tour that combines the history of the town with its tram heritage.
