A Boat at the Festival
Holland Festival - Netherlands
When: 01 June 2010 - 27 June 2010
Holland's largest arts festival is held in Amsterdam for a three-week period during June. International performers take part in theatre, dance, music and opera in an event that’s highly popular with both locals and travelers.
The majority of performances take place at the Muziekgebouw aan't IJ venue, which has a contemporary feel and suits the atmosphere of the festival. Other concert halls and theatres located around the city are also employed to showcase various acts.
Classical productions are often given a contemporary slant and the focus of the Holland Festival is to provide up-to-date performances in a modern environment. There are around 80 shows put on across the three weeks and as many as 80,000 people attend the festival.
If you are planning to go to the Holland Festival you are in luck, as there are a number of fantastic hostels in Amsterdam ideally located in the city center, like the Funky Chickin Apartment, just a 10 minute walk from Central station and a three minute walk to Dam Square.
