Things to Do in Mozambique
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Mozambique? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Maputo Elephant Reserve, Maputo
Part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area, this reserve is a lush haven for wildlife including crocodiles, hippopotamus, zebra and baboons.
2. Bazaruto Archipelago
Consisting of five beautiful islands in the Indian Ocean, the Bazaruto Archipelago is also a conservation area and official marine reserve. The stunning coral reefs are one of the best sites for scuba diving and snorkeling in Africa.
3. Museum of Revolution, Maputo
Various exhibits (amongst them maps, photographs and artifacts from the 1975 battle for independence) track the historical struggle with Portuguese colonialism. A fitting location for the museum, Maputo is the exciting industrial hub of an otherwise largely rural Mozambique.
This travelers’ haven has become Africa’s equivalent to Phuket in Thailand or Goa in India. Originally attracting people for its beautiful beaches and laidback vibe, the increased popularity has brought restaurants, nightlife and plenty of water sports activities to the city.
5. Uembje Lagoon, San Martino
This series of inland lakes – home to a fantastic array of birdlife such as flamingos – is a true hidden paradise.
