The Ouzoud Waterfalls are a series of tiered cascades that fall - to spectacular effect - into the lush green valley below. To fully appreciate the 330-foot cascade, however, it's best to view them from on high.

Vital to the Moroccan experience, these public bathhouses are found in every town. With separate hammams for men and women, visitors strip down to their underwear before a scrub-down followed by a relaxing massage.

A truly amazing sight, these animals climb the Argan trees in order to forage in the higher branches. A fantastically surreal photo opportunity!

This vibrant square is packed with food stalls selling everything from dates and freshly-squeezed orange juice to monkey's heads. With snake charmers and story-tellers entertaining the crowds, the markets are a feast for the senses, while leading off from the square the labrynthine souks stretch away in every direction.

Not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, you can pretend you're Lawrence of Arabia for a day – or longer – fairly cheaply, with a spot of haggling. You'll feel authentic, if not very comfortable, and the ocean of sand is awe-inspiring.
