Things to Do in Monaco

Thoroughly impressive both outside and in, this museum literally grows out of the cliffs into which it’s built. By far the most impressive attraction is the Shark Lagoon display which includes rays, groupers, jacks, sea turtles and, of course, sharks.

Founded in the 1960s, Monaco's Botanical Centre is a must-see for plant lovers. With over 100 species of cacti it's a prickly affair, but a beautiful one at the same time.

An impressive site – even by Monaco's grand standards – this palace boasts a variety of themed rooms lavishly decorated with some incredibly fine regalia. The highlight is the Throne Room in which all state ceremonies have been held since the 16th century.

Even if dropping hundreds of euros in a night’s lavish gambling isn't your thing, this ex-opera house – the pinnacle of 19th century architectural splendor – should be checked out. The atrium is made entirely of marble and flanked by 28 ionic onyx columns.

This 18th century fortress is now an open-air theater with a capacity of 350 spectators. In summer, performance or not, it offers a tranquil escape from the city metropolis and has fantastic views.
