Things to Do in Mexico

The archeological site at Chichen Itza features an astounding collection of Mayan buildings. The pyramid shaped ‘El Castillo’ is probably the premier site, while the massive ‘Temple of the Warriors’ is similarly awe-inspiring.

The city of Guanajuanto in Central Mexico boasts fantastically preserved colonial buildings that attract thousands of visitors every year. Once a major silver mining town, the city is built upon a maze of underground passages.

Once the center of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, this famous plaza in Mexico City is now a huge meeting place, and a hive of activity. Five Aztec temples are dotted around the square, along with the National Palace and the largest cathedral on the continent.

The home of contemporary Mexican art is housed in the beautiful Palacio de las Bellas Artes. The palace boasts a large auditorium, a museum and a library, along with some incredibly decorative furnishings.

A combination of a legal loophole whereby cadavers are dug up if payments on the coffin are not kept up and a strange phenomenon that mummifies the buried bodies. The result is the (somewhat macabre) Public Museum of Mummified Citizens.
