Things to Do in Kuala Lumpur

Want to know some of the standout things to do in Kuala Lumpur? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...

1. Go Wild at the ‘Warung’

The ‘warung’ (or food stalls) of Chinatown and Little India are one of the city’s main attractions for travelers. Compact, bustling dens of colorful commercial activity, they’re possibly one of the most interesting places to eat in the world.

2. Take a Stroll Through the Lake Gardens

The Lake Gardens are home to the National Planetarium and, it’s claimed, the biggest aviary in the world. A massive park, it makes for a great place to slip away from the incessant activity of the city for a couple of hours.

3. Pick Up a Bargain at the Central Market

Crowded, noisy and a lot of fun, Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market is also the place to browse through a massive range of bargains. It’s got everything from cheap designer labels to local handicrafts and there’s also an exceptional food court upstairs.

4. Stare in Awe at a Couple of Very Tall Buildings

The Petronas Twin Towers (until recently the tallest buildings in the world) and the KL Tower are absolutely spectacular. At night, beautifully illuminated, they are the city’s most impressive landmarks.

5. The Batu Caves

Just outside the city, the Batu Caves are a sacred Hindu site. Away from the main caves (which contain a Hindu place of worship), there are countless others that are virtually unexplored. A word of caution, however: watch out for the food-stealing monkeys!
