The Asakusa Temple
Chichibu Yomatsuri - Japan
When: 02 December 2009
The Chichibu Night Festival in early December is famous for bright lights, dancing and a huge night parade that goes on into the early hours of the morning. Fireworks and traditional arts provide the evening and morning entertainment when the float parade is not in full swing.
Many musicians and dancers join the throng of travelers and locals spilling out from the pavement, with a jovial atmosphere pervading proceedings. The parade is centered on six floats that emerge from the grounds of the Chichibu shrine at roughly seven in the evening.
Decorated by hand with carvings and fresh flowers, the floats are a truly stunning spectacle.
