Turin’s nearest airport is Sandro Pertini in Caselle, about 15km outside the city, and buses head for the city center every 45 minutes or so. Malpensa Airport lies further away – about two hours by regular airport bus – but has a greater volume of cheap flights, offering a viable alternative for budget travelers.
Those arriving into the city by rail will find themselves in one of the two main terminals, Porta Nuova and Porta Susa. Porta Nuova tends to deal with longer journeys and trains from outside of Italy whereas local travel connects with Porta Susa. Long-distance buses also arrive into Turin from destinations throughout Europe, stopping at Corso Castefidardo.
For getting around the city itself, the bus and tram services are perfectly adequate. Alternatively, it’s easy to explore using your own initiative as, unlike many other Italian cities, Turin is set on a grid system that makes navigating the streets pretty straightforward.
