Getting Around Santorini Island: Transport Tips and Advice

Island Transport!

Perhaps surprisingly, Santorini has its own small commercial airport near Kamari  where budget flights arrive from Athens and a few other select European cities.

And while it may be small, Santorini offers an impressive public transportation system: the bus service is very efficient, with arrivals and departures scheduled at the main depot in Fira Town. Buses from the airport also drop off here, as do those from the main port at Athinios.

Cable cars provide another option for visitors – especially those looking for scenic views. They depart every 15 minutes or so between the old port of Santorini, Skala and the capital of the island, Fira. The cars cover the 220-meter height in about three minutes and run from early morning until about 8pm.
