Carnival of Cultures - Germany
When: 21 May 2010 - 24 May 2010
Held in May each year, the the Carnival of Cultures is a four day street festival that vibrantly celebrates Berlin's multicultural spirit. Activities mainly take place in the Kreuzberg district which is known for its diverse blend of food, music and communities.
Established in 1996, the carnival has grown massively over the years and morphed into a full-on festival. It began as a simple street parade with volunteers and performers from local theatre groups but now boasts music and other activities both on and off stage.
The entire neighborhood is transformed with colors waving from every window and balcony. Carnival groups from over 70 countries participate in the parades and over half a million people attend the festival.
