Cannes Film Festival - France

When: 12 May 2010 - 25 May 2010

May sees the internationally renowned Cannes Film Festival take place in the glamorous south of France. It is considered the finest film festival in the world by both the industry and the public and every year just seems to get more spectacular.

In 2008, the much-hyped Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was screened, inciting a mixed response from critics, whilst Laurent Cantet walked away with the prestigious Palme d'Or for his movie, The Class.

The organizers have recently begun staging viewings on the beach and large production companies often scatter interesting props around the town. Elements of Cannes are very industry-focused and screenings are often reserved for professionals and critics. However, there’s still plenty for travelers to get involved with and Cannes would lose a great deal of its atmosphere without its public.
