Things to Do in Fiji
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Fiji? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. The Fiji Museum, Suva
Surrounded by Suva's beautiful botanical gardens, the museum houses a vast array of anthropological material. There are collections devoted to domestic customs, dress, religion and ritual, war and wealth, along with a rotating exhibition of local paintings.
2. Natadola Beach, Viti Levu
With its white sand and sparkling blue waters, Natadola Beach in Viti Levu is widely considered one of Fiji's best beaches. The surrounding area is rapidly being developed, so enjoy its natural beauty, excellent surfing conditions and horse riding along the waterfront, while it remains unspoilt.
3. Naihehe Sacred Cave, Sigatoka Valley
Located at the heart of Sigatoka Valley, these caves boast incredible natural rock formations. Historically, they were a fortress for a cannibal tribe and, rather gruesomely, you can still see the ritual platform and human oven.
4. Bouma National Heritage Park, Taveuni
The island of Taveuni's stunning park has three waterfalls set in verdant rainforest. These are a three-hour return hike away and you can break up the journey by swimming in the refreshing volcanic pools. Other hikes take visitors deep into the rainforest or along the Lavena coast.
5. The Sigatoka Sand Dunes
This fragile ecosystem is the country's first national park. Extending 650 hectares along the mouth of Fiji's second-largest river, the dunes are scattered with archaeological remains.
