Things to Do in Tallinn

Want to know some of the standout things to do in Tallinn? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...

1. Descend to the Lower Town

This gorgeous gothic quarter is perhaps one of the best maintained in Europe. The streets are narrow and the sky is punctuated by beautiful spires. Amongst the torrent of churches and monasteries, notable attractions include the Town Hall Square and St. Olaf Church

2. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Tallinn’s grandest Cathedral also sits atop the Toompea Hill. Which means it offers an appealing combination: splendid architecture and superb views.

3. Get yourself to Kadriorg

This former palace is about two kilometers east of the city. Where it once housed Peter the Great, its resident is now the Art Museum of Estonia. So there’s a palace, well cultivated gardens, and an art collection. Which all makes for a rather nice day out!

4. Tower over Tallinn in the Tallinn TV Tower

(Try saying that quickly!) The Tower in question is six kilometers out of Tallinn. It rises to an estimated 314 meters, and on a good day offers view out across the city and the Gulf of Finland. Well worth the trip.

5. Jazz up your Holiday

Tallinn spruces itself up for the Jazzkaar Festival in April. Venues range from the big (City Hall) to the small (cafés and bars). Regardless of the size, a cultured time is had by all!
