Dating back to around 2200 BC (depending on the source), Stonehenge is both one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world, and a mystery to modern man. Just how and why these massive stones were assembled has never quite been answered.

The official residence of the head of the Royal Family, Buckingham Palace was first used in 1837 by Queen Victoria. Outside, the famous British Guards patrol with ceremonial pomp while the daily Changing of the Guards is one of London's major Royal events.

England’s answer to the Great Wall is a small, although nonetheless impressive, stone and turf wall that once spread the width of the country and marked the border with Scotland. Today what remains of the wall continues to be accompanied by the rugged beauty of the surrounding area.

One of the most famous Christian buildings in the world, Canterbury Cathedral is the home to the Archbishop of Canterbury – the head of the Anglican Church. The building itself has a Saxon heritage, and its various rooms have been home to many important events over the centuries.

A converted power station that opened as one of the world’s leading contemporary art museums in 2000, the Tate Modern has secured its spot as one of London’s premier tourist attractions. The huge permanent collection includes prominent works by Picasso, Bacon and Pollock.
