Things to Do in Denmark

Want to know some of the standout things to do in Denmark? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...

1. The Jelling Stones, Vejle

Two large stones stand proud in the ground near the city of Vejle. They sit between the burial mounds of King Gorm and his wife Thorvi (for whom the stones were reputedly commissioned) and mark the birthplace of modern Denmark.

2. Tivoli Gardens Fairground, Copenhagen

This famous amusement park in Copenhagen is considered the oldest surviving park of its type. The wooden rollercoaster is almost a hundred years old, while other attractions include a modern (and rapid!) rollercoaster and an 80 meter high carousel.

3. Kronborg Castle, Helsingor

Kronborg Castle sits on a spit that juts out into the sea near the town of Helsingor. An imposing defensive site, it dates back to the 15th century, makes an appearance in Hamlet and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

4. Skagen

The flat stretch of land around Skagen is great for outdoor activities. The town’s beach marks the meeting point of two seas, and they can be seen crashing against each other from the beach’s head.

5. ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum

One of the largest art museums in Northern Europe, the ARoS houses an impressive collection of art in a huge square building. The museum has a contemporary leaning, with many of its revolving exhibitions focus on new and modern art.
