Things to Do in Croatia
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Croatia? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Roman Amphitheatre, Pula
The amphitheatre in the center of Pula is the sixth largest surviving building of its kind. Dating back to the 1st century, it's the only remaining Roman stadium with all four side towers still in tact.
2. Diocletian's Palace, Split
The center of Split is marked by the crumbling ruins of Diocletian’s Palace. The Palace consists of four quadrants now populated by museums, churches and a large all-day market.
3. The Old Town of Dubrovnik
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the entire Old Town of Dubrovnik is enclosed by impressively well-preserved ancient walls. Inside, meanwhile, the Rector’s Palace and Sponza’s Palace are of particular note.
4. St. Donatus' Church, Zadar
This typically Byzantine circular structure in Zadar dates back to the 9th century. No longer used for religious services, its near-perfect acoustics allow the church to regularly serve as a concert hall to local orchestras.
5. Hvar Island
About an hour's boat ride from Split, the island of Hvar and its fertile vineyards are guarded by impressive fortifications. A travelers’ hotspot, it transforms into a hedonistic party paradise by night.
