Things to Do in Dubrovnik
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Dubrovnik? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Walk the Walls
A stroll around Dubrovnik’s Gradske Zidine (city walls) is one of the real highlights of a stay in the city. In the evenings in particular, as the sun sinks into the sea in a blaze of color, the views are absolutely spectacular.
2.Lounge on the Beaches of Lokrum
With a fort, a monastery, cool pine forests and some lovely beaches, the island of Lokrum makes a wonderful daytrip from the city.
3.Go Food Shopping at Gunduliceva Poljana
The city’s food market is the perfect place to pick up some supplies for a picnic (perhaps combined with No.2 – a trip to Lokrum!). Local specialties include seafood (of course), fantastic cheeses and 'sljivovica', a fortified plum wine.
4. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival runs throughout July and August. The variety of different musical styles on display combines with top theater and dance events to create one of Europe’s preeminent arts festivals.
5. Spend an Hour or Two in Sponza Palace
The Renaissance splendor of Sponza Palace once held the mint of the former city state. Unlike many other buildings in Dubrovnik, it was largely undamaged by the earthquake of 1667 and is now one of the city’s unmissable sights.
