Things to Do in Cambodia

Want to know some of the standout things to do in Cambodia? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...

1. Angkor Wat

This staggeringly beautiful (and absolutely enormous) 12th century Khmer temple complex was built for King Suryavarman II. Held in by a moat and a 2.2 mile long outer wall, it typifies Khmer temple architecture. A particular highlight is at sunset, when visitors can climb the steep steps to take in the magnificent views.

2. Siem Reap

Siem Reap is a small collection of villages along the Siem Reap River and is popular as an evocative start-off point for trips to Angkor Wat. A handsome selection of colonial and Chinese-style architecture is scattered around the Old French Quarter and Old Market.

3. Phnom Penh

Cambodia's capital is home to 13 million people and is every inch a bustling Southeast Asian metropolis. The classic French and colonial styles to be found in some quarters of the city make for wonderful exploring.

4. Sihanoukville

Kick back here if you want to experience the best beaches that Cambodia has to offer. The wonderfully named Serendipity Bay comes highly recommended as does the series of 12 islands off the Sihanoukville coast.

5. Battambang

A useful starting point for the local temples of Phnom Banon and Wat Ek Phnom, Battambang is an essential Cambodian stop. Attractive colonial architecture and the impressive Battambang Statue count among the town’s highlights.
