Things to Do in Belize

This rainforest has a proliferation of ancient Mayan ruins, most notably the ancient city of Caracol. Other attractions are the countless rare species that populate it, such as the Howler Monkey, Coatimundi, Margay and the Red-Eyed Tree Frog.

This 42 meter-high pyramid is still the tallest building in Belize. Over 100 tombs have been discovered in this highly decorative structure which was also found to be adorned with gory offerings such as severed body parts.

With their central role in Mayan rituals, Belize has countless fantastic caving sites. Of these, the most notable are probably those at Actun Tunichil Muknal, Chechem Hah and Barton Creek Cave.

The nine-meter shallows of this channel are populated with Nurse Sharks and enormous Sting Rays. As such, it attracts divers from all over the world who are often surprised at the (sometimes alarmingly) sociable attitude of the fish after years of feeding off fishing scraps.

Puma, Margay, Ocelot, Jaguar and over 290 different species of birds have made this stunning 128,000 acre sanctuary their home.
