Things to Do in Belgium

Built for the World Fair of ’58, the 103 meter-high steel structure represents an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. It has recently undergone extensive renovation, and can now be seen in all its original splendor.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the central market square of Brussels. It is flanked by guild houses and the impressive Town Hall, which dates back to the 15th century.

This 1,000 year-old cathedral is the seat of the diocese of Ghent. Apart from its austere façade and rich past, the cathedral is notable for its altarpiece by Hubens and van Eyck.

The Museum of Ancient Art and the Museum of Modern Art sit side-by-side, forming the essential cultural complex that is the Royal Museums. Art from the 14th century to the present day is represented among the labyrinthine museum corridors.

Located on the outskirts of Han-sur-Lesse, the caves are found on the River Lesse as it forges its way underground for about a kilometer. Numerous stalagmites and stalactites are on display, and are occasionally lit by spectacular sound and light exhibitions.
