The Metro in Brussels
Zaventum Airport – also known as Brussels National – is 14km from Brussels itself. Four cheap trains leave every hour for the main stations in the city center and the journey time is pleasingly short.
There are three main train stations: the Gare du Nord (which also includes the chief Eurolines office and coach station), the Gare Centrale and the Gare du Midi. Eurostar and Thalys trains can be caught at the Gare du Midi, as can a small selection of Euroline coaches.
Once in the city, there’s an efficient bus, pre-metro (a metro/tram crossbreed) and metro network which runs until midnight. One ticket lasts for an hour while a combined 5/10 journey card involves a small saving. Tickets are bought from stations or bus drivers.
