Zaventem Airport is about 1hr 30 minutes from Bruges by train. Check the timetable for the Airport City Express on the Belgian Railways (SNCB/NMBS) website, and the rest is simple!
Bruges is similar to Amsterdam in that its historic district is compact and easily accessible on foot. The two central squares, Markt and the Burg, are about a 15 minute walk from Stationsplein.
Once in the city center, beautiful sites are peppered throughout the complex web of streets. At Stationsplein, you can also rent a bike for the whole day for a surprisingly reasonable price.
The traffic in the historic center has recently been reduced to make Bruges a walkers’ city. The tourist office on Breidelstr offers walking tours for a small fee. Tours of the canals which wind throughout the city are also offered.
