Things to Do in Perth

You’re in Australia and the sun is shining – so why aren’t you on the beach already? Go get your towel and your ultra-strong sun cream (maybe a bit of insect repellant, too) and hit the coast. City Beach and Scarborough Beach are just a short bus ride away.

Located on Victoria Quay in Fremantle, the Maritime Museum houses exhibitions on all types of sea-faring themes. Even if that’s not your thing, the postmodern building is well worth a glance.

The raised altitude of Kings Park gives it a great view of the sprawling city. Hire a bike and ride along one of the park’s many trails, taking in the native fauna as you go.

Perth’s International Arts Festival has been running for over half a century and is now Australia’s largest event of this kind. Held in February and March, the program mixes a variety of art forms and features some of the world’s foremost artists.

Ok, so the name doesn’t sound particularly appealing, but we assure you this island is a must. Try spotting the local resident – a small marsupial related to the wallaby known as a ‘quokka’. Or if you’re more into creatures that live in the sea, check out the wonderful snorkeling on offer.
