Things to Do in Mendoza
Want to know some of the standout things to do in Mendoza? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Museo del Pasado Cuyano
Housed in an elegant civic mansion, the collection here allows you to scratch at Mendoza’s historical past. Particular points of interest include an ancient religious altar and an array of General San Martín memorabilia.
2. Find Some Space in the Parque General San Martin
With over 300 carefully cultivated hectors, this is one of the best city parks you’re ever likely to visit. Tour the zoo and the amphitheater, take in the vegetation, or simply chill out in the relaxing urban space around you.
3. Drink Your Way along the Caminos Del Vino
Ok, so we don’t endorse alcoholism - it’s just that a tour of the wineries surrounding Mendoza is a little hard to resist. The star grape here is malbec, but there's also some tasty tempranillo and syrah blends on offer. Two tips though: book before you go, and drink at least moderately carefully!
4. Day Trip and Thrill Seek
Sitting at the base of the Andes, Mendoza offers a host of adventure sports for the adrenaline junkies out there. Try whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Rio Mendoza, or climb, hike and trek your way up Mount Aconcagua.
5. Experience the Vendimia Festival
Unsurprisingly, Mendoza’s main festival is related to its wine. Celebrations really get going at the start of March every year when the grape harvest rolls around, while festivities include horse-and-cart processions, and a beauty contest that culminates with the crowning of the National Grape Harvest Queen
