Want to know some of the standout things to do in Buenos Aires? Then have a look through our handpicked suggestions below...
1. Meander through Montserrat and San Telmo
Buenos Aires is a city that is, by turns, solemn and ancient, and young and skittish. As with the city as a whole, a stroll through the old southern quarters of Montserrat and San Telmo proves seductively atmospheric.
2. Sit and Watch the Rio de la Plata (San Isidro)
In the past, young women used to wave to their beaus as their boats sailed away from the city and over the horizon. A little of this romance remains, and this spot by the Cathedral is a lovely place to sit, watch the river move sluggishly by, and take stock.
3. Stuff Yourself with Steak!
Argentina is almost certainly the meat eating capital of the world. And they certainly know how to cook a good steak! ‘Parrilladas’ and ‘asados’ (cooked over a wood fire) are absolutely mouth-watering.
4. Pick up an Ice-cream at Persico
In actual fact, Buenos Aires is blessed with not just one, but three chains of ice-cream parlor: Persico, Un Altra Volta and Munchis. All can be found in various locations across the city and boast an incredible array of delicious flavors.
5. Make for a ‘Milonga’
Don’t bother with the touristy tango ‘shows’, as the real thing can be found everywhere. If for Argentines, the tango is not so much a dance, as a religion, then the ‘Milonga’, or tango club, is its place of worship.
