Ecotourism may not be a particularly new concept, but, from Costa Rica to India, New Zealand to South Africa, eco travel destinations are certainly growing in popularity. So we felt that it would be extremely worthwhile to put together a guide to ecotourism and ethical travel, highlighting some of the options available to the many budding eco-travelers, hostel-goers and backpackers who want to do their bit for the environment.
These days it seems like whichever way you turn, travelers are faced with green or ethical dilemmas, and an increasing need to learn more about responsible travel. A few of those who have adopted the eco-label in recent years have been accused of nothing more than slick marketing, ‘green-washing’ as it has become known.
