Travel Gear Essentials
It’s fine if you’ve remembered to pack your gear - but excruciatingly annoying if you haven’t! After all, there’s nothing worse than sitting on a long, bumpy bus journey in Brazil without your MP3 player, or having to hop across the baking hot sands of Sydney because you’ve forgotten your flip-flops!
Here are just one or two things that HostelBookers travelers wouldn’t consider leaving home without:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can’t travel without my money, toothbrush, cosmetic bag (fresh sticks & tissues), sunglasses, camera, phone and enough clothes."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My teddy and a book"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My journal, my camera, my passport, my friends and family."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Guitar, clean pants and socks, a good book and a good mate!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Flip-flops, swimming suit, goggles, a book, sunglasses"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"When going to Southeast Asia, I always make sure I’ve got a good supply of insect repellent."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Map of places in which I go and a list of interesting things to see and do when I’m there. A bag with a few clothes, MP3 player with my favourite music, documents."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A Rough Guide (of course it’s my travel bible!!)... My man (he reads maps, carries my shopping excesses, picks me up whenever I fall over with my backpack on and keeps me warm at night)... A digital camera to record every glorious wonder so I can see where we went if I ever forget who the heck I am… A bold red lipstick for excursions to elegant places… (it’ll take their minds off the rest of my clobber)... Toilet paper for… well, you know what for… A torch for finding my room at the end of spooky, long, unlit corridors, a mobile phone just in case… A return ticket for sometime in the distant future so I can force my nearest and dearest to attend a travel-photo night!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Passport, digital camera, memory card, spare batteries and cell phone."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Some sort of touch for scrabbling around in the dark when I’m setting off early from a hostel!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Of course, I always take my toothbrush with me! The second thing I’ll never forget is music and 1 or 2 books to read together with the town guide. My camera and a brand new diary, to keep notes in…"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A fiction book, shampoo, toothbrush, mobile phone + charger, some food (usually nuts/cereal bars in case nothing else is available), swimming trunks, a torch, some clothes and washing powder."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My bikini (usually one for sunning and another for swimming), mobile charger, a good book, camera and music (in any form)."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Sheets are sometimes (not often) necessary, plus a small pillow (I like it), socks (when it’s cold), big towel for the beach, toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear, trousers, t-shirts, money, credit cards, sometimes a cooker, a tent, a headlight. The rest you can buy, if necessary."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A good, solid water bottle, sticky plasters and some Alka-Seltzer are essential."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Listings for music, restaurants, places to visit. A phrasebook."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
" A sketchbook, drawing materials and camera. Plus guide book, wash bag,Travel wash, a cool necklace, a good book, IPod and charger, hair straighteners (yes, really), mobile phone, contact lenses, sunglasses, a small shoulder bag... and a girlfriend!"
